I graduated from Prairie View A&M University four decades after this picture was taken. I too stood in a marshy field and took a course in archery. More importantly, I learned to shoot for my dreams with accuracy and strength. Since then my sister, my niece, my nephew and his wife have graduated from this fine institution. Today my cousin and goddaughter joins our lengthening line of family who have educated themselves at this dream on a hill. It has stood since 1876 on the grounds of a former plantation and made the formerly enslaved and their descendants intellectuals and agents of change. Congratulations, Bre!
